Today was not only Fat Tuesday, but also a birthday number four for our very dear Princess. We took today and celebrated both Mardi Gras and birthday together. So instead of birthday hats, we decorated masks and instead of party favors, there were beads galore.

All the boys were wonderful to her. They are always good to her, but today they all went out of their way to make her day extra special. Beautiful.. This little estrogen-american doesn’t know how good she’s got it yet.

We all love you so very much P.

Where was I?? Oh yeah, the GARGANTUAN (okay, I know I’m spelling this one wrong, but my spellchecker friend is failing me now…. eeek!) pictures… I’m only savvy enough at this point to get them uploaded, not sized correctly. So please bear with me. Oh, yeah, and with my very poor spelling…. It’s an affliction I musta inherited from my father. (even though I was adopted… whatever…)

Today we enjoyed a relaxed day and we just read, read, and read some more! It was cold and rainy outside, but the fire inside was nice and warm. I went to the first Friday Library Book Sale at the local library and came home with some wonderful treasures. The kids love it when I go… it’s like Christmas to them. Books get quickly unpacked, thumbed through and scattered about the floor. Lots of “oooh, look at this one” and “cool, I looove this one..” Now if I could just get that reaction from my husband…

We’re off to try and make St. Brigid crosses (like the green one she’s holding in the picture above). Wish me luck!

Okay, forget it… I was trying to post one of those silly quizzes that tell you what kind of flower you would be, or what Jane Austen character you could be or in this case what ‘American City’ you are– but obviously it didn’t work. Phooey.. I guess I’ll have to do a bit more reading on how to post stuff the right way. I hate reading technical stuff– I’d rather someone come in, sit at my computer and just show me. I’m a hands on learner.. oh well..

Speaking of learning, one of the main purposes of this blog is to catalog our learning here in the home, so I guess I will focus more on that than posting silly quiz results. My next assignment for me then is to figure out how to post pictures and put up the amazon links of books in my side bar. I’ve been fooling around a bit with the whole widget thing.. but again that too requires reading on my part and not just random clicking in hopes of stumbling across the right way…<sigh>

Alright, enough of that.. A little about me: Catholic wife, mom and homeschooler to wonderful hubby and six (so far) kiddos- 5 boys, 1 girl. I am <strike>immensly</strike> immensely (ahhh, the wonders of spell checker….sad, I know) blessed. Hubby is active duty AF, so we’re constantly on the move. We’ve lived all over this great land of ours and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

I’m using this blog to more or less catalog our adventures as a Catholic homeschooling military family and frankly because the ol’ memory just ain’t what it used to be… (I did mention the six kids, right??). So, join me if you like — I’m not all that funny, or poignant, but you never know what might happen here with five monkeys and a princess.
